A community health fair, Jornada de Salud, was held on August in the Barrio Nuevo community, adjacent to the NWI Casas Saludables. Over 500 attended, and there were 20 organizations participating from both sides of the border, including 15 grad students plus staff from University of Arizona School of Public health Borderlands Summer Health Institute program. The major focus was on health education, garden program education/recruiting, seedling distribution; medical consultation and triage, pre natal health education, dentistry, physical therapy, massages, Zumba, volleyball, dog neutering, haircuts, great vendor food, and more. From ribbon cutting with Mexican Consulate and Naco Centro Salud, to the final evening barbacoa, it was a hoot.
