A citywide wall mural project – "Cambia tu Vida/Change Your Life" aimed at increasing community awareness, centering on wellness, healthy living, health education and disease prevention, was launched this past January. Sixteen high pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic areas were chosen to bring reminders to the community of the importance of engaging in healthy activities and to take advantage of readily accessible health services provided in Naco Wellness Casas Saludables clinics and Naco Centro de Salud, the Mexican health department rural clinic in Naco. Bisbee artists Frank Kiman aka "Pablo Pencil" and Carolyn Toronto conducted a number of drawing classes with school children and adults to develop topical themes, and draft illustrations depicting a variety of related subjects. These plans were then taken to the mural sites, ranging in size from 12ft. x 8ft. to 20ft. x 10ft. where painting by the drawing class participants took place, supervised by the artists. Eight of the 16 sites have been completed to date, with plans to complete the remainder over the next six months. These site topics, and others, have also been the subject of regularly scheduled health education programming by Naco Wellness promotores over Naco Radio Cultural, a community public service media with an extensive listener base.
